Sabato 14 gen 2012 – Meteo: nubi sparse alternate a schiarite – temperatura intorno ai 7 gradi – vento forte in vetta Weather: Scattered clouds alternated with sunny spells – temperatures around 7 degrees – a strong wind at the top

Decido il percorso il giorno prima e preparo lo zaino con tutto il necessario. L’itinerario è buono in inverno per mantenere l’allenamento quando in montagna c’è troppa neve.

I decide the path the day before and prepare the backpack with everything I need. The route is good in the winter to keep the training when there is too much snow in the mountains.

In 1,30h da Roma raggiungo il parcheggio proprio all’inizio dei sentieri a Torre Paola

From Rome I drive for 1,30h and I park the car where the paths begin in a place named Torre Paola, under the Mount Circeo

Decido per il percorso n°1 quello panoramico (viene indicato in 2h)

I decide for the path n°1, the panoramic (the sign says 2h)

Mi incammino sul sentiero in leggerissima salita alla sx del cartello dei sentieri.

I walk on the slightly uphill path to the left of the sign of the paths

Dopo 5 minuti sulla destra trovo l’indicazione per il mio sentiero, il numero 1

After 5 minutes on the right find the sign for my path, the number 1

Da qui inizia una salita molto ripida in mezzo al bosco, da evitare se ha piovuto e il terreno è ancora bagnato.

From here begins a steep climb through the woods, to avoid if it rained and the ground is still wet.

Dopo circa 20 minuti il terreno diventa più roccioso (finalmente, perchè fin qui è stato molto molto ripido, umido e scivoloso).

After about 20 minutes, the terrain becomes more rocky (finally, because here was very, very steep, wet and slippery)

Passano altri 10 minuti, inizio ad uscire dal bosco e la vista si inizia ad aprire su un bel panorama

Other 10 minutes and I begin to get out of the woods and the view starts to open on a beautiful panorama

Nonostante la giornata parzialmente nuvolosa, già vedo in lontananza le tre isole di Ponza (al centro), Palmarola a dx e Zannone

Although the day partly cloudy, in the distance I can already see the three islands of Ponza (center), right and Palmarola Zannone (left) sx)

Il percorso continua ad alternarsi tra alcuni passaggi su roccia mediamente impegnativi e fitta vegetazione finchè intravedo l’anticima del monte Circeo

The path continues to alternate between some challenging stretches on rocks and thick vegetation until I see the pre-peak of Mount Circeo

Passo dopo passo il panorama si apre sempre di più mostrando tutta la bellezza del luogo

Step by step, the view opens more and more showing the beauty of the place

Dall’anticima fino alla base del Picco di Circe c’è un passaggio bellissimo in cresta dove non c’è altro da fare che guardarsi intorno e ammirare il paesaggio stupendo che offre il monte Circeo (attenzione a non scivolare, alcuni tratti da fare con cautela)

From the ‘pre-peak to the base of the Peak of Circe is a beautiful passage on the ridge where there is nothing to do but look around and admire the beautiful landscape offered by the Mount Circeo (be careful not to slip, with some stretches to do caution)

Finito il tratto panoramico sulla cresta il sentiero continua tra vegetazione e rocce, a tratti si apre con la solita vista spettacolare sul mare

After the scenic way along the ridge the trail continues between vegetation and rocks, sometimes opens with the usual spectacular sea views

Poco dopo arrivo in vetta dove vedo sventolare la bandiera Italiana.

Shortly after arrival on the top of Mount Circeo where I see to wave the Italian flag

Faccio una sosta per mangiare, bere e godere della vista sul mare.

I take a break in order to eat, drink and to enjoy the sight on the sea

Scendo poi dal sentiero per il bosco e arrivo al parcheggio in meno di un ora.

Then I go down the path through the woods to the parking and arrive in less than an hour.
